Donegal and Derry City, Co. Derry. Explore the links above to learn more about the schedule of events, tips on travel and lodging, and to get yourself registered for the Reunion. There will be many of your fellow Clann folk happy to see your smiling face come July 2023. This is a special opportunity for us to come together to celebrate our ancient Irish heritage and create new memories.
Our current Reunion Committee is headed by Jennifer Doherty, an Irish Professional Genealogist and Failte Ireland National Tour Guide. Jennifer is joined by an expert panel of event specialists who have organised an experience for you which is sure to be memorable.
A variety of activities and events have been planned that will showcase our culture and allow us to reconnect with one another. From traditional music and dance performances to genealogy workshops and historical tours, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for joining us in this celebration of our Clann. We hope that you will leave the reunion feeling a deeper sense of connection to your family, culture and the O'Dochartaigh Clann. We would also like to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of our worldwide family, and we look forward to hearing from different perspectives, cultures, and backgrounds.
We look forward to seeing you at the reunion and making lasting memories together.
Warmest Regards,
The O'Dochartaigh Clann Reunion Organising Committee
The first O’Dochartaigh Clann Reunion was held thirty-eight years ago in 1985.
Since the early 1980s, a dedicated group of O’Dochartaigh volunteers in Ireland have been organising the worldwide Clann Reunion. Although exact numbers aren't available from 1985, over two thousand visitors were in attendance. Subsequent reunions were held in 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2015.
The Reunion in 2008 was out of the five-year rotation and was held to honor the last Gaelic Chieftain, Cahir Rua Ó Dogherty who was killed in 1608. Due to the global pandemic which saw the postponement of the scheduled 2020 Reunion, it has been eight years since the Clann managed to gather. A decision regarding the date of the next Reunion following 2023 will be made by the new Reunion Committee later this year.
